Anya Tennis

Watch your matches in minutes, not hours.

Give it a match video and click the four corners of the court once. It gives you back a reel of just the rallies — no waiting between points, no walking to pick up balls. Everything happens on your own Mac; your video is never uploaded anywhere.

One minute: a full match in, a highlight reel out.

DOWNLOAD FOR APPLE SILICON DOWNLOAD FOR INTEL

Requires macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later. About 320 MB.

Which one? Click Apple menu → About This Mac. If it says Apple M1/M2/M3/M4, take Apple Silicon. If it says Intel Core i5/i7/i9, take Intel. Macs sold before late 2020 are Intel.
If you're on an Intel Mac, expect it to be slow. Apple silicon Macs have a graphics engine Anya Tennis uses to do the heavy work; Intel Macs don't, so everything runs on the main processor. A 7-minute clip takes about 10 minutes on an M-series Mac and roughly an hour on a 2018–2019 Intel Mac — longer on older ones. It still works, and you can leave it running, but don't expect to wait for it.

INSTALLING

  1. Click Download for Mac above and wait for it to finish — it's a big file.
  2. Open the downloaded AnyaTennis.dmg. A window appears with the Anya Tennis icon and an Applications folder.
  3. Drag Anya Tennis onto Applications. That's the install.
  4. Open it from Applications (or Launchpad). Nothing else to install — no Homebrew, no ffmpeg, no Terminal.
You should not see any warning about an unidentified developer. The app is signed and notarized with Apple. If macOS does warn you, don't work around it — that means something is wrong with the build. Send a screenshot instead.

UPDATING

When a newer version is out, Anya Tennis shows a banner at the top of the window the next time you open it. Click Download, quit the app, and drag the new one onto Applications the same way — choose Replace when macOS asks. Your videos and everything the app has already worked out about them are untouched.

QUESTIONS

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. All the processing happens on your Mac, and no video, image or frame ever leaves it. There is no server that could receive one: the models and the video tools are inside the app.

Three things do go over the internet, and that is the whole list. Signing in and checking your subscription talks to Google (Firebase) and exchanges your email address and a login token. Paying opens Stripe in your browser — your card details go to Stripe, never to us and never through the app. And on launch it asks GitHub what the latest version number is, with no account and no identifier attached; you can turn that one off with ANYA_NO_UPDATE_CHECK=1.

Nothing about your matches is ever sent: not filenames, not how many reels you have made, not how long they were. See the privacy policy.

Do I need to be online to use it?

Only occasionally. The app checks your subscription when it starts, and if it can't reach the internet it keeps working for up to 14 days on what it already knows. A reel that is already running never stops because the connection dropped — the check happens at launch, not while it is working.

How do I cancel, and how does the refund work?

Open Account in the top-right of the app. Within 14 days of your first payment there is a Cancel & refund button: press it and your subscription ends immediately and the full amount goes back to your card, usually within a few business days. No email, no form, no explaining yourself.

That offer can be used once per account. After the 14 days, the same Account screen has Manage subscription, which opens Stripe where you can cancel at the end of the period you have paid for. You keep access until then.

I was a beta tester. Do I have to pay?

No — you get a free year. Create an account with the same email address you used during the beta and it is applied automatically; you will not be asked for a card.

Why is it so big?

About 320 MB to download, around 2 GB installed. It carries its own copies of the machine-learning models that find the ball and the players, and of the video tools that cut the reel, so you don't have to install anything separately.

How long does it take to process a match?

Roughly 1.6 × the length of the clip the first time. A 7-minute 4K clip took about 11 minutes on an M4. Running it again on the same video is much faster — it remembers what it already worked out.

Something went wrong. What do you need from me?

Two things: the version number, shown in the top-right corner of the app window, and the log file. You'll find the log in Finder via Go → Go to Folder… and pasting ~/Library/Logs/Anya Tennis. Send app.log along with what you were doing when it happened.

What about Windows?

Not yet. A Windows build is planned but hasn't been tested — this beta is Mac only.
